hey all, now i am not a stranger to turbo's. but been thinking.

putting a garret t15r from one of the jap kei cars onto the 250cc bike.

exhaust manifold would need to be made, and maybe a larger set of carbs. but i was wondering if theres any sites around that have turbo bikes on them?

and if theres any traps in doing this excercise?

dont bother telling its not worth while. it is!!.

i could get away with turbo-ing it for under a grand, for a 50% increase in power i like them figures.

cheers.joe.

if its the zzr i personally wouldnt bother, doubt the engine could take the power for too long, they arent exactly built to be powerhouses either, no offence.

i thought someone would say that.

it donsnt faze me too much, i bought the bike as a 200 dollar write off. i have over time, fixed it up.

i cant afford my dream tl1000r till the end of the year it would seem now.

if i blow the zzr engine, i blow it.... and i'll just rebuild it.

i just reckon it would funny to see. a turbo 250.

i work in a sheetmetal shop, i opperate a laser profile cutter. the exhaust system would cost me nothing, as i'd make it myself.

i'd only be paying for tuning and the turbo itself. these turbo's go for like 150 bucks from import wreckers.

it'd be a cheap project

will probarbly give you a holla for the manifold :) its a 89 250r which my mate stacked, so its street fightered. we are whacking an r1 tail end on it, 55 tooth rear sprocket, down one size front, polishing it, crash bungs and maybe a cage, and a t25 etc. will be funny.

hahaha t25!!.

thats go like a rocket on boost, but will take a a fair while to get there. t25 are usually found on a 2.0lt engine.

a t2 from the earlier et turbo pulsar would the biggest i would go. hence my choice of the t15, will supply a broad power band with hopefully the grunt that a 500cc would be proud of.

yes it will take a long time to spool, not if you use a rear sprocket thats aprox 10 inches in diameter and a smaller front hahaha :)
gonna whack some rr carbs on it too for the larger fuel jets
mind you this is a very long term project, but funny.

yeah tru,

allowing the engine to get up on revs quicker, is my number one method of anti-lag too lol.

so you thing the cbrrr carbs will be big enuf? i was thinking a set of carbs from a 400cc twin. or half a set from say a zx7r.

cheers.joe.

nah it should be fine, will be a low boost setup, doesnt need much more than 4/5psi

ok kewlies.

i am just applying my knowledge from build turbo cars,

i plan on running 7-8psi ,max, with a low pressure of 3-4

7.3 psi is another 50% engine capacity to the engine, so in theory the 250cc will become a 375cc engine with 7psi.

so the carbs need to keep up with that, a half set from a zx7r is 375cc. or a set from a 400 (slightly big, but is a safe bet, in preventing detonation.)

cheers.joe.
